NSF WORKSHOP

Alabama A&M University (AAMU) Department of Physics NSF/Research Infrastructure in Science and Engineering (RISE)

Workshop/Short Course on the Development and Study of Advanced Sensors and Sensor Materials for Undergraduate Students
and College Faculty

Held at the Physics Department, Alabama A&M University
Dean’s Conference Room 322 (4th Floor), Chambers Building

July 9-13, 2007

Workshop Activities

What is the nature of a “good” detector? How does the world of nano-particles enter into sensor science? How do detectors compare with each other in speed, capacity, functionality, and detection range? The emphasis for the workshop/short course will be on Biological, Chemical, and Radiation Sensors and Sensor Materials. This will be an exciting time for you to participate in Materials Science and Applied Optics with internationally known scientists. Participants will have an opportunity to spend time in the Advanced Sensor Laboratories of AAMU. A tour of Alabama Space and Rocket Center is planned.
