Dr. Fredrick S. Humphries took office as the 4th President of the National Association for Equal Opportunity in higher education (NAFEO) on January 1, 2002. A renowned scholar and admired public servant, Dr. Humphries, has had distinguished 27 year, career as president of Florida A & M and Tennessee State Universities. At NAFEO, Dr. Humphries has worked diligently to raise the profile of the nation's 118 historically and predominantly Black colleges. He has fought vigorously for increased resources and the expansion of programs at NAFEO member institutions. Dr. Humphries received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, magna cum laude, from Florida A & M University and a Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh.
