Topic: Climate Modeling at LLNL

At LLNL, we are using the state-of-the-art atmospheric general circulation model CCM3 to understand climate change due to greenhouse gases, aerosals, land-use change, etc. We assess the impacts due to climate change and mitigation strategies. The time scale we are interested is of order of many decades. Recently, we are also performing global climate simulation at very high resolution (50 km) to investigate regional climate changes. In this talk, I will focus on one issue: Climate change pattern due to CO₂ may be different from that of other trace gases (CH₄, N₂O, CFC11, and CFC12).
